Macon is absolutely beautiful this time of year, so get out and see what the city has to offer! There are plenty of great events happening this May. Here are a few of them you should check out.
Birds of Prey
Join Dale Arrowood at Ocmulgee National Monument on Saturday, May 6th as he performs flight demonstrations with falcons, hawks, owls, and vultures. Arrowood will teach about birds of prey and the role they place in the environment. He also speaks about preserving the birds’ natural habitat. The program is free and it takes place at 10am, 12:30pm, and 3:30pm. Remember to leave your dogs at home for this event as the birds and dogs might not mix!
Spring Stroll of Macon
May is the perfect time of year to get outside and stroll around. The weather is so nice and pleasant, you’d be crazy not to spend some time outside. At the Spring Stroll of Macon you can walk at your own pace through private gardens, blooming with May flowers, through the historic Intown neighborhood. The Garden Tour takes place May 5th – 7th on Friday and Saturday evenings. Aside from the Garden Tours there is a Historic Interiors Tour where you can visit beautiful private homes in the Shirley Hills neighborhood. Ticket holders will get a free tour of Hay House, the Italian Renaissance Revival mansion. You don’t want to miss out on this National Historic Landmark. It’s incredible!
Saturday Brewery Tours
Every Saturday Macon Beer Company opens its doors to visitors for brewery tours and tastings. Spend the beautiful May afternoon with friends in the beer garden, or sit inside in the tasting room. While you sip your different beers you can play cornhole while you wait for your tour to begin. $12 includes a tour, 6 tasting tickets, and a souvenir pint glass. Each tasting ticket can be exchanged for 6oz. of a beer of your choice.
